I see lots of posts on here about living with parents and I’d just like to provide another perspective. Yes there’s the economy argument, but also there are plenty of cultures/families where living with your parents until they pass is the norm

For example my aunt and her family will live with my grandparents until my grandparents pass and that’s the expectation (my family is from the Balkans)

This is true, but the cultural argument, goes both ways - in many western cultures no matter how old you are, you’re not treated as an adult until you have your own place and you’re completely financially independent

I don’t disagree with this. To be more specific I guess my point is that there are plenty of people from cultures with multi generational who live in the US so it feels (to me) a bit odd when I see posts complaining about how folks who still live with their parents are not being independent enough

That’s true, a lot of the posts on here generalize about a large group of people when really they’re speaking about one or two individuals in particular, and also it’s hard to contextualize what people are saying on here when it’s entirely anonymous, but you make a good point!
