I love being told by boomers that I don’t have autism despite being diagnosed when I was a child bc they have some family member with an autistic kid who through one reason or another is completely incapable of caring for themselves. Like OK???

Autism is a spectrum and boomers don’t get it. Sadly this is the same generation that devours AI slop on Facebook and thinks reading a Breitbart article makes them as qualified as a scientist to talk about vaccines. Also as someone who has worked many customer service jobs, for some reason every single customer who has ever been nasty, entitled or rude was a boomer.

Man fr! And they’re crazy confident that they’re correct speaking on topics they literally have 0 education on whatsoever. But if they read it on Facebook? Nothing can invalidate it!

Sorry for the rant but this is a generation whose lack of understanding of mental health and refusal to revise said understanding over time has perpetuated ongoing stigma for decades.

Oh I agree completely. My Auntie got caught up in Facebook conspiracy theories regarding healthcare & stopped taking her thyroid medication and insisting it was poison which led to her almost dying of a thyroid storm and it took multiple family members and Doctors to then convince her that taking the medication was what got her there.

*Not taking her medication. And yeah I agree, their opinions on mental health are usually so ignorant and dismissive.
