i don’t believe in god cuz no way he let 400 years of slavery happen, slave masters and salves were praying to the same god, one obviously had their prayers answered

I’m an agnostic atheist. I do not believe in god and I believe if there is a god then god is not all good, all knowing and all powerful. I was in and out of pediatric oncology as a teenager and after seeing kids too young to walk but receiving chemo, it solidified my beliefs. I will not get on my knees for a god that allows that to happen.

Ordeal happens in this world because man is not perfect and the world holds together through the mercy and grace of God. He isn’t some being looking from high above but actively engages us day to day for a personal relationship. Through Christ, he experienced far more hardship than anyone could and sacrificed his son to pay for our sins.

Two things. A) Slavery has existed since the birth of civilization. There are more slaves today than ever before in human history. B) Basically no religion holds that God is a magical man in the sky who controls things like someone playing with action figures. That would eliminate the entire psychosocial application of religion that makes it so relevant to the human experience.

Bible is merely a claim, and piss poor philosophy. If you had not taught it as children you would be laughing at it. Some of you needs to grow up, it’s a “religious conditioning,” and you are a victim

if god exists (which he doesn’t) he’s evil and owes us all an apology

Israel was enslaved because a new Egyptian Pharaoh at the time feared their rapid population growth, viewing them as a threat. The Egyptians sought to curb this growth, weaken them through forced labor, and eventually ordered the killing of male Hebrew babies.

Abraham in Genesis 15 had God say they were grow in numbers and eventually be liberated. God’s prophecy became true once the Israelites were freed by Egypt.

I agree. I took a philosophy of religion class and the main topic we debated was if god exists. People really did try and defend and make excuses for DYING CHILDREN. I’d have to bang my head on my desk. “We have free will, we can’t live in a perfect utopia” I’d give up my free will any day to protect children it’s insane people praise a god that gives an ultimatum

It was pretty frustrating at times I couldn’t believe what came out of some of their mouths. But I honestly was seeking those types of conversations. I just wanted to hear their side of things yk what I mean? I’m very solid in my beliefs so not to differ me from them but to me the answer is so obvious right and any other way just doesn’t make sense to me so I was interested in their arguments but they certainly didn’t help their case at all at any time. The class was the nail in the coffin

i’m so tired of the free will argument, free will doesn’t mean a kid should be raped like 😕 an all knowing god can create free will without evil and hierarchy,

free will is not a good reason to create suffering! exactly, either he’s not all-knowing and all-powerful or he is and he created evil

the bible is a collection of historical accounts written by 40 people over a corse of 2000 years with over 63000 cross references many of these people never met anyone else who wrote btw so i wouldn't call it a claim, its a far better written textbook than anything else your school has to offer lol
