I got this new game my friend is experienced in and he said he would help me learn. Instead of helping me, he guilts me into 1v1s and spends the whole time taunting me saying things like “close!”, meanwhile, I don’t even understand the controls. Cool!

I always like to give a teacher approach when teaching people how to play so that they find it fun and wanna keep playing. I don’t mind letting them feel like they’re winning or feel like they’re getting better cause they probably are.

But I also recognize nobody does that on a game they poured a ton of time into they’d rather show off how much time they spent on it as a way to feel satisfied with the amount of time they spent

I mean he constantly brags about being good at these types of games (fighting games), meanwhile he says the types of games I like are “easy” (like marvel rivals, where I am top 200). So he diminishes my accomplishments that took a lot, and then uses this opportunity to taunt me. Also he lost multiple rounds against someone who is basically bronze, so chances are he sucks anyway
