And most of the time that means working a minimum wage job that more than likely underpays them, because they are the only ones willing to do that work. The thing is, the US has never had “one culture,” just as there has never been an official language. Immigration to the US has always been a thing, white colonists were just the ones that slowly took over the country, and they have been trying to kick everyone else out for years, and still are. I would agree with a lot of that actually. We had immigration for almost this country’s entire history. The main difference is in the last 40 years (loosely) we have had a large increase in 2 things. 1, The amount of people coming in, And 2, The amount of people with non conforming standards to our American Culture. Quick question, if they are in search of a better life, why do they try to bring that old life with them here? Wouldn’t it make sense to start new and leave it behind?(conformity)

when immigrants say they want a new life, its not exactly their beliefs or culture they’re talking about. most immigrants do *try* to fit into our society and our norms, while also sticking to themselves. they’re not running away from their home country because of their culture and such—they’re typically running away from the dangers their home country brings. this can go hand and hand with the way of life. to them it may seem more freeing here. if that makes sense
