By that logic you should be begging for ice. Let’s recap. A foreign people with strange customs come to a land already inhabited and start to take it over bit by bit. Apparently 300+ years ago that was just awful the worst thing ever, but today it’s something to defend and celebrate?
Brother not one immigrant is trying to conquer the US. please educate yourself like seriously. Majority of immigrants are here in search for a life better than what they had in the home country. And most of the time that means working a minimum wage job that more than likely underpays them, because they are the only ones willing to do that work. Without immigrants, this country would fall apart, as it already is bc of ICE. Comparing white colonists to fleeing immigrants is insane.
#16… those so called “white colonists” were also fleeing immigrants from religious persecution. And if you think they aren’t trying to take over this country i would advise taking a step back and looking from a different perspective. Our country has had immigration from cultures that are vastly different from ours for 40-60 years and the quality of our majority white European culture has gone downhill to something unrecognizable. If ICE is the necessary evil to protect that, then so be it
Ahh yes, attacking me personally instead of the issue at hand. A clear sign of intelligence. Anyway #8 it’s good to hear from you again. I was worried you were dodging me after making an analogy of coming to my house and kicking me out. And as for your last comment, I do believe white European culture(the culture that built the world you live in) should be protected along with all other cultures. If people don’t want to live in that… P1/2
The thing is, the US has never had “one culture,” just as there has never been an official language. Immigration to the US has always been a thing, white colonists were just the ones that slowly took over the country, and they have been trying to kick everyone else out for years, and still are. And as someone that comes from an immigrant family, I can assure you we do not want to take over the country lol
I would agree with a lot of that actually. We had immigration for almost this country’s entire history. The main difference is in the last 40 years (loosely) we have had a large increase in 2 things. 1, The amount of people coming in, And 2, The amount of people with non conforming standards to our American Culture. Quick question, if they are in search of a better life, why do they try to bring that old life with them here? Wouldn’t it make sense to start new and leave it behind?(conformity)
when immigrants say they want a new life, its not exactly their beliefs or culture they’re talking about. most immigrants do *try* to fit into our society and our norms, while also sticking to themselves. they’re not running away from their home country because of their culture and such—they’re typically running away from the dangers their home country brings. this can go hand and hand with the way of life. to them it may seem more freeing here. if that makes sense
Actually a lot of immigrants do leave their culture behind, they try to assimilate out of shame or fear of being discriminated. Also idk what you mean by “nonconforming standards” when I literally just said there is no “one culture” in America. I can tell you don’t know much about immigrants and what they have to go through. It might your privilege making you so ignorant, in which case you should consider yourself lucky you can’t understand what these people have to escape.
I can see how that might be confusing! I am definitely against diversity and living in cultures that are not my own. The comment you are referencing was directed at #8, a close personal friend of this thread who, from what I’ve gathered, seems to want that lifestyle. I was wishing my friend the best and hoping they got what they wanted in life! Hope this helps!
