Yea basically, it’s sad how all types of romance are basically hated on to weirdly fixated on one specific kind. It’s bizarre to me, specifically GL lovers hating BL lovers and vise versa- like both media is supposed to be about people falling in love 😭

I’m just ranting because people in my community suck. And pretend that enjoying normal and healthy love is boring or frowned upon because they get upset when they are rightfully called out for liking weird rape shit exclusively. And it’s weird cuz I love toxic dynamics like it’s my lifeline but like- why add rape? It ruins any sort of dark romance cuz rape is the opposite of devotion or a reason to fall for somebody- Just weird people bro

Yeah it delves into some very concerning territory at some points…like, why are you being lesbo/homophobic? It is not that serious. Romance is hated on as a genre because it mainly has a woman-dominated readership, because misogyny. Infighting is simply unnecessary 💀

Very unnecessary. I also hate that people assume that if you don’t agree or tolerate SA in stories (specifically between the love interest) that means you don’t like dark romance. I love a toxic relationship especially when it’s obsessive, but there actually has to BE a relationship. So adding assault literally ruins any foundation of a cool dynamic anyway yk? Like I swear I know ball 🤣

Exactly! As a kid I was fixated on Korean BL but all the popular stuff was flooded with rape and pure abuse and I’m glad I realized how wrong it really was. Now my tastes are either extremely fluffy romance or toxic and obsessive romance with actual substance

omggg you’re so real for this because my favorite kind of romance is when it isn’t just completely wholesome (I want tension, grit, obsession, everything to add DRAMA) and if they just make the love interest an awful person to achieve that then it’s all moot. Just gotta make them a lil weird not genuine assaulters 😭

Frr OR make them match each others freak so hard that it’s always consensual. I read a story where it’s extremely toxic but it’s so toxic that it might as well be a green flag situation. The MC is OBSESSED and a stalker for this rich dude while he lives in the ghetto basically, and wants any sliver of his attention no matter what. The Love interest is basically a tsundere without the cuteness, he’s a dick 24/7 but protective and just as obsessive but in a more “nonchalant” way.

It was genuinely PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to do any SA or full on abuse because THESE FUCKERS ARE RIDE OR DIE. They like anything the other gives because they are obsessed and down horrendous. Thats a true dark romance bro- What’s the fun of it being one sided anyway? It’s just a horror story now lol
