Why was my mom upset I bought tampons for the first time. Mind you I’m 20 years old . Her excuse was she did feel comfortable with me using them because I’m a virgin. 🧍🏽‍♀️what type of reasoning is this

There used to be a myth that tampons would somehow break your hymen (which isn’t even how the hymen works) but that was generations ago, I’m surprised a mom in current day (presumably gen x or elder millennial?) would still believe that.

It’s a stupid belief tbh! She’s def not in the right, wearing a tampon doesn’t affect your virginity

Any ways hymens can tear over time anyways from things like excercise or just daily activities anyways

Yeah don’t they just kind of disintegrate over time? And they rarely actually cover the vaginal opening enough to tear and bleed. Please go into women’s health research with your degree, we need you. (I’m mostly kidding, we need passion in every aspect of healthcare.)

It’s was funny to me when she said it though . Because you can literally have no hymen rn and never been sexually active before in your life. And women are born with different thickness, some peoples hymen can be really thin and others can be thicker but they wear out after a while anyways
