As a half Jordanian Christian who leans left, I would take a Muslim candidate any day over a republican christian nationalist. I’ve been to Jordan twice in my life and the way Muslims treat people who live in their land is the way scripture actually teaches people to treat others who live in our land. And even then, I’d even say that land is ultimately a piece of dirt that’s God’s so what’s the point in even claiming possession over a plot of dirt?
I think this pattern is because due to the bigotry of republicans in the United States, the only Muslim politicians who can get elected are highly progressive candidates who appeal to left leaning people. There are tons of super conservative Muslims out there, but they are not able to get into office because the republicans who share their conservative values would never vote for them
i’d agree to a certain extent but think about Darline Graham in SC, she’s a woman but i do understand how the only reason she’s a candidate for the republican senate seat is because she’s the sister of Lindsey, she’s being criticized for being under qualified but it does go along with your point how a lot of republicans vote based on what they’re familiar and comfortable with
