replying to this just for visibility, but if a tick is attached to you do NOT use fire to get it off. it takes several hours of being attached for a tick to inject diseased material into you, and if you distress it it would detach itself but not before injecting its diseases prematurely, always use needle nosed tweezers from the base or a tick key
Iād just like to say that EVERYTHING has a justification for being, everything that is living has a role in the ecosystem it lives in. Ticks are a main part of the diet of possums and many other animals, without them the whole ecosystem would be thrown off balance. Itās easy to say that bugs which are a nuisance to us have no purpose, but they really are important!
itās not? nothing I said isnāt based in fact! they keep populations in check, are part of the diets of many species including birds, and they are an indicator species for how well ecosystems are doing. they are important whether or not you view them as a nuisance! everything has a purpose
Mhmm not true not everything has a reason for being, some things just exist. Like Burmese pythons in the Everglades destroying the habitat and endangering Florida Panthers because irresponsible morons smuggling them to the U.S. Ooh main diet for possums/opossums another set of animals I donāt care for. Yes it is easy to say it has no place because itās a bug, sorry I donāt care for the cycle of life for bugs. Things I regularly squash with no qualms.
Burmese pythons also have a purpose?? thatās not their fault that they were smuggled into the US, but it also goes to show just how sensitive these ecosystem webs are since destruction happened where humans introduced them! And I was not specifically talking about āthe life cycle for bugsā⦠I was talking about ECOSYSTEM cycles and webs. which you learn about in detail in like, fourth grade. but I guess you probably got held back that year or something š¤·āāļø
No i just disregard things that have no value or pertinence to my daily life, if I see a bug somewhere I donāt want it, it dies especially around my home. I have cats and dogs why would I care about ticks that would latch to them and subsequently potentially latch to me. Burmese pythons quite literally have no purpose in the glades keep telling yourself they do. Ticks serve no purpose to humans if possums/opossums feed on them they should find a better diet.
