I’ve been severely depressed before, I understand not wanting to do anything but that only makes it even worse. Little accomplishments is what drives improvement. But completely neglecting hygiene bc you’re depressed is a lousy excuse. You’ll always stay in that state of mind if you don’t do things for yourself
i’m glad you were able to overcome your temporary depression. some people are constantly depressed because they have an actual chemical problem in their brain. you were able to overcome it and get out of bed because it was temporary. some people don’t have that luxury. hygiene is important and everyone should get the help they need to take care of themselves, but shaming people with depression won’t do that. get off your high horse!
Again that is depression, not depressed. Please look up the difference between the two. If someone is suffering from depression, my heart goes out to them. My grandmother had depression and it is a very debilitating illness. If you are depressed, you can overcome it. However, actively not taking care of your hygiene will only make it worse. Small victories drive improvement. You can hate what I’m saying all you want but it is true.
again, get off your high horse. i’m aware of the differences. you just don’t seem to understand that people with depression are DEPRESSED. yes you can overcome a depressed state, and small victory steps is the way to do it. but being judgmental and saying shit like “ew who doesn’t brush their teeth?” or “that’s a lousy excuse” towards people who have this problem is shitty! improvement isn’t linear.
Not sure why you keep referencing people with depression when I’m clearly talking about those who are DEPRESSED not those who have DEPRESSION. Yes, I understand someone who has depression is semantically depressed. However they both have two different definitions given the context Sorry, I think it’s gross if someone doesn’t brush their teeth. I think that’s a pretty common consensus amongst most people.
