Yah I'm in the same boat. But I've been a part of a few group interviews over the past few months, and I've noticed that we aren't being hired bc we're competing with (the people they're actually hiring): -Actual seasoned professionals who were laid off and now have to apply to entry level positions, or who left the field to do other stuff/follow their passions but now shit is super rough and tough so they're returning to their original field at entry level And-
Depending on the industry they’re going to hire within or have a candidate but have to run the process. Best advice I have for you is if there’s a company you want to work for, find an event to attend or people on LinkedIn and connect with them directly. If you have a company referral you’re top of the line for the job
Crazy I've made it to the final level interview 4 times and every time the other ppl there with me are either like 'Well, my aunt is (name drop)' and the interviewers light up like 'Oh we love (name)! They've done so much for us!' Or 'Yah I worked this exact job 20 years ago, worked my way up through the field, then left to start my own business but now I'm back' And I'm just like 😀 'So uh I have a degree and all this very well rounded work and research experience' but that's not enough anymore
