
Yeah but it’s got lower rates of detection! Part of it is bc doctors struggle to identify the spots on people of color vs white ppl bc they’ve only been taught on white skin in books by white people- and bc doctors also hold that beleive they’re less likely to even try to look for it so it’s less common but it’s more lethal- when it’s finally detected it’s often too late
there’s no way you actually believe someone with melanin has the same rates of cancer with someone with no melanin😓 that’s just statically and scientifically not true… yea doctors are more experienced when it comes to white skin but statistically blk ppl still burn less than everyone else
I don’t man. It’s that it’s less detected and so more deadly. With a shit healthcare system and institutionalized racism and sexism and all that- poc are missed in skin cancer the way women are missed for heart attacks. Because men experience heart attacks more and white people experience more skin cancer and drs know the symptoms and looks for WHITE DUDES mainly they don’t see or even know what those symptoms look like for any one else. You may be less likely to get it but IF you get its deadly
