It’s kinda not a real rule. Women who cheat try to impose it on their bfs bc they project the whole proximity=sex thing on the assumption their man is as untrustworthy as them, then men try to impose it back because that seems only fair (and it’s a red flag that he’s right to worry), and then neither side really honors it, they just pretend to bc it affects nothing bc if you were gonna cheat in the first place then you’re not gonna stay away from your friends just bc your partner asked you to
