I get you. The “but” makes it sound like a chore for them. I’d be much happier with a “I’m so busy, but I want to see you so I’m making time”

Have you been talking for a while or in a relationship? Because its hard to ask someone to put 100% effort on a person they arent in a relationship with. Plus it seems like they want to spend time with you when they could be spending time resting or doing something else. They're fitting you into their tight schedule and that seems like enough

You’re right. What I said is mainly talking about a longer term relationship. Not somebody you’re “trying to get to know”.
