Ignoring the dudes who are just shitty I do think there is a distinction between paying for dinner because you asked them and being expected to pay for every dinner in a relationship based on outdated gendered expectations

yeah there definitely is an expectation that the man pays! but at least with my friends who date men they all know that’s pretty outdated and have no problem splitting the bill. honestly from what i’ve seen it’s men who make it a big deal, not women lol

I haven’t run into that as being an issue yet. And frankly if it did come up I’d just be like “oh we shouldn’t date” because that would indicate a lack of shared values. I think some dudes must seek like some sign that they are oppressed so they make the bill thing huge (or its height) as if that compares to all the shit women go through
