You are more than just your job. As Liam Nelson said “what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.” Find a project while you’re out; and work on your skills. I’m building a unity game to vibe code while I’m out, it’s teaching me how to use AI, and it’s something I can put on my resume to stay active and doing stuff.
does it matter? maybe it’s not just capitalism, but society overall emphasises things that again shouldn’t determine your value. i know people who are “untalented”, “uncool”, “unattractive”, and “unaccomplished”, and yet in spite of these arbitrary labels, they are still cared for and loved. as long as you try your best to be a decent person, none of that stuff matters - and even if you don’t, you can improve yourself, slowly but surely.
that is capitalism. you're describing not having material and labor value (likely untrue anyway) as if it means you have no personal value. but call it whatever you want: society hurt you. you should give yourself more grace and kindness. how would you respond to a beloved friend that was in your situation? try that on yourself
