First year of comp sci: how do I avoid unemployment when I graduate like 90% of comp sci grads? My goal is to make 6 figures at some point in software development

Go the career fairs even if you aren’t actively looking for an internship or job, take resume copies and actually talk to the employers. Do research and present at conferences. Join clubs, go to events with speakers and ask questions. Get to know your professors, ask them for recommendation letters or such. Do as many internships as you are able. Then just apply apply apply

make sure you get involved with clubs and have personal projects, either that or rely on nepotism

Have a secondary major. It may sound like odd advice, but it’s how I make 6 figures. I was a lab scientist in a hospital, then studied software engineering. Then I found IT jobs specific to my field, my pay doubled overnight…
