Can someone here honestly tell me if the macbook neo is worth it? I have a 2020 macbook air rn that’s digging its own grave but i’m starting a masters degree in august and I don’t know if i’m setting myself up for failure by getting the neo. :(

If you have M1 and not Intel, just upload your important stuff to iCloud, factory reset, and maybe think about a new battery and you’re much better off with less money spent than a MacBook neo.

If you’re trying to get something new, get a Lenovo V14 G5, twice as much ram as the neo. You can probably find a really decent used laptop for that price as well

They’re not super powerful, but as long as you’re doing basic stuff, it’ll be fine. The Neo is better in single core performance than the M1 Air, but it’s slightly worse at multicore performance. If you can spring it, the M5 Air is quite solid for the money, and you can get an M4 Air for pretty cheap as well.

The Neo is amazing for people who don’t know anything about hardware. I.E. people who just need a basic web browser machine. Depends on what you’re using it for

Yeah, but it has Microshit’s software on it. Put Linux on it and its darn near golden (as long as you don’t need any pro apps lol)

The air includes a touchID and backlit keyboard as well as higher battery capacity new, you’d be taking a hit getting a Neo.

For real the factory reset is going to make it feel brand new.

OP I wanna hear how a factory reset treats you. I’m invested.
