Pre calc in my opinion was to make sure you knew all the algebra and trig needed for calculus. Kind of like a final test of all your previous math skills summed into one class.

You don’t have to be good at it, you just need to get through it. I’m in calculus 4 and honestly it’s easier than calc 1 was. Just keep pushing
