what year are you? frankly, if you’re applying online it comes down to finding a role that you’re a good fit for and applying early. as for in-person job hunting/career fair stuff, networking is the way to go (though it also works well with online listings too)

im a junior currently, gotta say though yeah i have been mostly just applying online and i have gotten so many rejection letters that its not even funny anymore. definitely scared of finishing off with a degree and no guaranteed job to show for it.

you can sometimes find recruiters’ emails through certain sites and extensions that can search for them. but yeah, it’s tough, but keep your head up! I was on the verge of quitting when I submitted the application that turned into my offer

so quick question, how do i navigate that when there’s probably other people with more experience than me also trying to get the job?

projects that make you stand out. Not ones you find with a google search and not ones that take less than a week. Also, packages libraries and languages that not everyone might know like rust. Any experience can be good besides actual jobs. For example, i put that i spent a week at the fbi for a camp. Theres so many other things you can do to stand out on top of all of this. No you cant do it overnight but it helps in the long run. Also certs help for excel or other software especially network+

Go onto GitHub and find open source projects that need help with yak shaving. The small issues that needs remediating that the more experienced coders can’t spend time on for having higher priorities, but are essential to the long term health of open source. Get a bunch of pull requests under your belt and put em on your resume. DO NOT VIBE CODE

yeah and the more you program and come up with ideas the better and easier it will be. You can be pushing out ideas that actually build revenue in 2-3 months which will already put you in the top 40%ish of candidates you are going against
