Does anyone know good beginner projects for a computer engineering major? (yes I know this is a cs group). I’m open to both software and hardware stuff

maybe try out making synthesizers/effects? like VSTs, physical digital, or physical analog ones. though it does require some equipment to be able to run them, but if you go the VST route theres free or free and open source DAWs that you could run them on

Many people usually start with automating or simplifying parts of their daily routine with {hard,soft}ware, or with projects that tie into hobbies

Buy yourself an arduino. Then play around with it. Make yourself a little videogame on it that takes user input from dials and buttons. Have your friends play it and give you feedback back. It’s fun, memorable, and you can say you learned how to interpret user feedback at the end!

I’m semi fluent in C and I know very basic electronics but that’s about it. I kind want to steer a lil more into software dev but again I’m still open to hardware projects. Any sort of beginner suggestions would be greatly appreciated
