Genuinely understanding why the old heads think this generation of programmers is cooked af when in year 3 of my CS program I am the only one in the class who knows how to use GitHub. The professor literally put me as a resource in the syllabus

Too reliant on ChatGPT instead of actually learning the program

My program’s first freshman computing class has all our homework on git. Each student has a repo with subfolders for the assignments they push to and that’s what gets graded. Greatest idea ever. Prof gets easy access to all the code and commits, and my internship doesn’t have to teach me git, everyone wins.

Not knowing how to use version control is a hard red line I used to gauge whether a person is good enough to be in my group. I’d canvas the whole room on the first day to find potential candidates so I don’t have to suffer at the end of the semester with an airhead

My question is how have you made it 3 years in EVEN VIBE CODING without ever using Git/GH?!? Its 99.9999% on the students of course but dude professors need to teach git

When I was finishing my associates one of my professors briefly introduced us to git
