Absolutely disgusting to see Mississippi State ringing cowbells as Luckie walks off the field after passing out and likely having a head injury

i think you’re taking it wrong, they ring the cowbells as celebration not as a ‘boo’. so they start ringing whenever an injured player stands up as a celebration of them getting up

I’m from Memphis and toured State when I was a senior. It is the most red neck place I’ve ever been. Thank goodness I actually got into UT. However, when I went down to watch the Vols this year, most of the people were really nice. We barely heard the bells on the visitors side. Nothing even close to Neyland. And they stopped ringing them right before the snap. The stadium is pretty small and I think the TV people film near the home side so you hear them when televised.

I have so many questions about cowbell culture. Like is it a certain brand that they have to get? Do people decorate them? Are cowbells expensive? Are cowbells a big outfit accessory? I just don’t get it haha

You generally get gifted your first one. I don’t think there’s a certain brand? Mine was customized by gals in glasses and I honestly don’t know how much it was! But i started school at bama and loved gals glasses so it was fitting for that to be my first one.

seems a bit backwards when the player has a concussion and should probably avoid loud noises and when they booed the targeting call, no ? ( but yes i do agree i’m sure that’s what they intended )

Idk my interpretation was they ring the cowbells when the opponents offense is playing so I saw it more as an intimidation thing?

oh i agree, definitely backwards but the intentions weren’t malicious and they were celebrating him getting back up

they ring cowbells when the other offense is playing to try and distract/disrupt them but it’s also a huge celebration thing, like if msu gets a touchdown or stops a drive they ring it too. i’ve been in the student section with my friend who goes there and whenever an opposing player gets hurt everyone is silent until they get up and then they’re cheering and clapping and ringing the bells when they stand up
