
I don't even care that they lost to Ohio State, if you want to go to the playoffs you have to beat your Floridas, you can't be taken to overtime by two conference bottom feeders back to back. I'm convinced they're crying about "quality losses" to draw attention away from the rest of their season.
I agree, it seems odd to me how losses matter way more than wins when determining ranking, but if I had to guess I think the committee is using wins as a metric of peak abilities and losses as a metric of consistency. In a playoff bracket you typically want the teams that are consistent since you know you'll get good games from them, but the 12 team expanded bracket allows for some less predictable teams to add to the mix.
