The NCAA is a governing body and can implement laws, sanction players and institutions, and hand down punishments within their system. They have power to supersede a court ruling when it comes to eligibility. If they truly cared about the integrity of the sport they would sanction Sorsby and TTU for trying to pull a fast one on them. Even if TTU were to say “meh whatever” and play Sorsby the NCAA has the power bitchslap TTU back to the Stone Age

Courts can, and have, ruled against the NCAA but the uselessness of the NCAA is that they won’t punish people who break the system. It’s why Chambliss is getting another year. It’s why there’s an 8th year senior for Miami. If the NCAA was a serious organization they would punish players/colleges for breaking the rules

The NCAA cannot make or enforce laws, they make and enforce RULES. They do NOT have the power to supersede a state or federal court. The fact that you don’t know either of those facts tells me that you have no earthly idea what you’re talking about.

Bylaws you asshat. Sure they can’t supersede court rulings but they can’t still enforce punishment as long as TTU is under the NCAA banner. Either TTU stays and capitulates to save all of their sports or they risk going rogue, breaking off, and possibly (and likely) help lay the foundation for a super league where it’s soulless corporate greed where football isn’t fun

Again- they can’t supersede court still punish TTU for playing Sorsby. TTU and Sorsby have broken the NCAA bylaws ergo punishment
