Are you stupid? The rivalry is about Bleeding Kansas. The Confederacy has nothing to do with it, despite yall being fans of them

Truman & the tigers aren’t really a part of it. It’s really based in that when the games were first played, union veterans from Kansas would regularly fight confederate veterans from Missouri. The game became a backdrop of the lingering tension of the civil war/bleeding kansas

You’re conveniently ignoring the fact that Missouri never seceded and Columbia was pro-union.

Did you read what I wrote?

Yeah, and it’s not really relevant to what I’m talking about. Every fanbase has a few assholes in it, that doesn’t mean everybody who supports the team is one too.

I don’t know if you understand, but that is what the ENTIRE rivalry is based on. Like literally nothing else besides that. If those fans aren’t there fighting, this rivalry is not a thing and then these fanbases do not care about each other at all. It’s literally impossible to separate the 2

lol no, the rivalry is based on the history between both teams. The connection to Bleeding Kansas was added much later on

Now you’re just making stuff up. The “history between both teams” is literally what we’ve been talking about this whole time.

You’re not talking about the history between the teams, you’re talking about Bleeding Kansas. That’s not where the rivalry comes from.

Bleeding Kansas is where the rivalry comes from.

lol no it’s not. That wasn’t a significant part of the rivalry until the 1970’s. They’re rivals because they were two nearby schools with similar-caliber athletic programs.

That was a significant part of the rivalry since the beginning idk what you are on about. Literally no one cites what you just said as the reason. Otherwise they are as much rivals as both schools are with Oklahoma or Colorado
