As a Notre dame fan, honestly wont be upset if we get left out of the playoffs even though I feel like we’re a top 12 team (lost 2 games, can’t really complain). How delusional do u have to be to feel entitled to a playoff spot with 3 losses??

Huge ND fan too but I hate the delusional narratives that persist through our fanbase. We’re a top 12 team no question, but I won’t complain a bit if we get left out. That’s what happens when we don’t join a conference. Have to be prepared and at our best in those two games whether it’s at the beginning or end of the season

Notre Dame better not join a conference I don’t care what the circumstances are

only reason yall won’t is because no conference is willing to give you unequal revenue

Exactly, plus we make money not being in one. Why join the ACC or BIG 10 if we have to split money with teams like Boston college and Purdue. Blows my mind teams like OSU and Bama are still in conferences.

A lot of the top football schools wouldn’t benefit as much from being independent as Notre Dame currently is. The main issue is that it heavily complicates every sport not called football. Notre Dame has the benefit of already being independent, while many schools would not only suffer, probably not benefit a whole ton in the end if they decided to go independent

Not even just football- a lot of academic and operational factors also rely on conference membership

U can be tied to a conference academically and with other sports, ND is. The only hard part would be getting a good TV contract like ND has. OSU and Bama are the only 2 I’m confident could get a good enough TV deal to justify the move. But I don’t get why they don’t want to try (my guess is they’re scared they wouldn’t be able to schedule teams from their old conference)

That’s exactly what would happen. The SEC and B10 would never willingly cooperate with those schools if they left. The pushback would be insane, at all levels. Ohio State I believed received 60 millionish last year. Part of the issue is finding a tv carrier willing to take on that risk, because the second Ohio State isn’t doing well that is a MAJOR liability
