Autobids would work way better if it was just the highest ranked team in each conference instead of the champion. Conference championships would still matter (e.g. if BYU beats TTU they’d still get in), but out of conference games would also matter more and weird situations like this year’s ACC wouldn’t matter (Miami would be, which is reasonable imo).
