Preseason #1 is an accomplishment. January-August matters for fan engagement and marketing. Its almost as important as the actual sport. Thats why i dont put 2010 Auburn on that same elite tier of national champions. They didnt dominate for 12 months, they dominated for 4

Yes, but you wouldn’t be able to compete. Oklahoma literally ran the Big 12 the past century, but they struggled in the playoffs because they had an elite offense but nobody played defense in the Big 12, so they couldn’t stop SEC teams from scoring
