I personally love the sport of college football and watch all the games I can. It’s natural to want one team to win in every game, so I cheer for the team in the SEC. Like someone said, it’s sibling rivalry. I hate them in the regular season but cheer for them in post-season non-conference matchups. It’s not that serious bro. 😂

Because it devalues rivalry. You’re basically just a bandwagon fan who wants to be part of the winning side so you don’t care about rivalry you cheer for any team that’s even somewhat associated with yours because you’ve somehow deluded yourself into thinking that there’s a transitive property in that other teams close to yours succeeding means you can share in it. You’re not a fan of the sport you’re a fan of the conference.

I don’t see why cheering for your conference it’s looked down upon. I think everyone should want your conference to win out of conference games. When it comes to in conference I want my rivals to lose, but if teams in my conference keep losing out of conference games it weakens my in conference games.
