Conferences saying “yeah the wrong team won bc of a bad call but fuck you we’re keeping it anyway” actually happened at least twice before that I know of. 2016 CMU vs Oklahoma State where they incorrectly gave them an untimed down and got a Hail Mary, and 2015 Miami vs Duke where they missed multiple things that should’ve ended the game on a multi-lateral TD
