I hate ole miss because they flew the confederate flag at their games until shockingly recently. But, this season only, they’re somewhat likable. Qb was playing d2 last year and they’re in the playoffs without their coach. What if they win it all?

This is where I’m at too with Ole Miss, their story (particularly QB) is just too cool to hold their past against them *just this once*

A lot of teams would’ve collapsed big time after Kiffin left the way they did

I mean it’s a representation of a traitorous group of people who wanted to split from America just so that they could own people

Football is supposed to be American, hence the American flags and the national anthem and what not. Why fly a flag of a country that’s not America? And that lasted like a few years?

To southern states, the confederate flag is basically equal to a state flag. We’re not saying we want slavery back, it just represents our culture as southerners

So do you guys hate America? Because that flag that’s part of (only white southerns) “culture” absolutely does represent slavery, and it represents a pathetic nation that declared war on America just to keep slavery

The problem is it has a history and it symbolizes shit. That flag symbolizes secession, treason, and yes racism. Idgaf about the “but my heritage” bull shit. You have a choice over what you choose to represent yourself and your past. Choosing that flag as the representation of your heritage is standing with secession, treason, and slavery.

“We love America, that’s why we hang a flag of a country that declared war on America, and then got destroyed” this must be that fantastic southern education I’m always hearing about

That doesn’t make much sense at all… me and the people I know who fly that flag are people who would die for this country and also happen to be not racist

Your friends fly the confederate flag but would die for America?!? What? The confederate soldiers did die, so they WOULDNT be part of America.

It doesn’t make sense because you’re trying to pretend like history didn’t happen and symbols don’t have meaning. If someone flies a Nazi flag it has meaning because that flag has symbolism. The confederate flag has a history that you don’t just get to ignore and pretend doesn’t exist. Tying your heritage to that symbol just reflects that you’re willing to stick your head in the sand.

The Nazi flag represents genocide the confederate flag represents treason and complete dehumanization to the point where human beings were property and owned by other ppl and sold and passed around at will of the masters. It’s a comparable example. And the fact of the matter is the symbolism of the confederate flag hasn’t changed it still represents secession, slavery, and racism. It absolutely is a symbol of oppression and atrocity.

As a white person from Mississippi who would never, ever fly a Confederate flag, speak for yourself bro. It does NOT represent my culture. I might be Cajun but I ain’t a racist bootlicker.
