“We can’t punish a conference championship loser” Why not? If you’re on the bubble and you lose you should be out. Many teams would kill to have an extra game (like Vandy) but it’s always a risk. We can’t just ignore a loss.

Iowa 2015, Auburn 2017, Georgia 18, Georgia 19, USC 22, Georgia 23 all out of the top 4 for solely losing the conference final

Bc it’s horrible for the sport man. Conference champions are one of the last things people actually like gaf about that hasn’t gone weird corporate commercialized. If they get punished for losing it’s going to like INSTANTLY suck the joy out of those games.

This is not true. If anything this puts stakes back into the championship game, making it more meaningful and more joyful for the team that won. Furthermore, if winning can move you up in the seeding, losing must be able to drop you in the seeding, and if you’re on the bubble you could drop out. Any team “scared” to play their championship game isn’t playoff material anyway.

Idk why people are acting like this has never happened before and would be unfair to #9 Bama

It will happen and teams will start intentionally trying to miss it. It’s not right but it’s true it’s going to happen and it shouldn’t. Also we just shouldn’t have that rule if there are “non conference teams” like that’s total bullshit

This makes no sense. The only way to “intentionally try to miss a championship game” would be to start throwing conference games. How would you avoid a loss by intentionally taking a loss? Probably to a worse team than you would’ve faced in the championship. Also, Notre Dame just freestyling their schedule is already bullshit, so you can just add this to the list of reasons Notre Dame should be in a conference.

I’m not saying that the teams should but they absolutely will try to. It’s the same thing with Texas fans bitching about how “they are counted out bc they should get brownie points for trying” like yeah the school should just nut up and win but this is about money at this point, and it’s better to just be a cupcake then it is to get in and potentially get dropped out.

Bro this makes no sense at all and doesn’t address any of the things I said. No one would throw games to try to avoid a conference championship game. Bama could’ve taken this loss and still been comfortably in a spot if it wasn’t their THIRD LOSS.
