Honestly I don’t think so. You have 1 undefeated team. 6 SEC/Big 10 teams with one loss each with no head to head matchups outside of Ole Miss v Georgia. I think that would be a disaster. The last year of the 4 team CFP made everyone ignore how much we didn’t like the system before. Average margin of victory last year was only 1 point higher than the history of the 4 team playoff. And everyone was complaining about blowouts last year

The four team playoff would’ve worked really well this year because there are four teams that are clearly more deserving of the opportunity to play for national title than the rest of the teams in the playoff. Even Texas tech is by a wide margin more deserving of the opportunity than Oregon and that’s not to say Oregon isn’t a great team or couldn’t on their day win the playoffs but there are 4 teams who clearly earned it more than the rest.
