As a Virginia fan: there are two things I can agree on. 1 - Chandler Morris coming back at 26 is unethical for CFB. 2 - the NCAA awfully handing his appeal and Jim Phillips’ affidavit should be even more concerning for the sport. I’ll reply explaining it

The main issue I have with Morris being denied eligibility isn’t that he was denied, it’s the fact that a lot of players and staff had reason to believe he could return and the NCAA waiting a week before the portal closed to deny him eligibility (thus discouraging suitable replacements for Morris from committing to Virginia) hurt Tony Elliott and Virginia’s ability to retool through the portal properly (which given the short portal window and the season we had was incredibly crucial) and-

The TL:DR is that Morris coming back is unethical for college sports, but how badly the NCAA handled his eligibility should absolutely be talked about too and will potentially hurt other teams for something completely within the NCAA’s control.

Virginia got Beau Pribula and Eli Holstein. They’ll be okay

This is the only reason I’d be okay with a 25/26 year old qb coming back, since Elliott didn’t have a fair chance to retool the team as every other college (even Ole Miss heard back on Chambliss’s eligibility before Virginia on Morris). And Jim Phillips willing to submit a sworn statement against one of his own member schools to be used in court should be concerning to the other members of the ACC. Again, it’s unethical for Morris to come back, but how this entire-

-situation is being handled as a whole is unethical and Virginia Football suffering the consequences of it in the hands of the NCAA as a result should be incredibly concerning for the rest of the NCAA.

Neither of those guys are as good as who we were trying to target (DJ Lagway for one). Morris’s eligibility still being uncertain ultimately turned him away from us. Even if we got the second coming of Tim Tebow, it’s still unfair for teams that the NCAA can sit on an issue and actively deter players from their team.

Surprisingly yes. He was more favorable for our system than Pribula (and Holstein)
