
The main issue I have with Morris being denied eligibility isn’t that he was denied, it’s the fact that a lot of players and staff had reason to believe he could return and the NCAA waiting a week before the portal closed to deny him eligibility (thus discouraging suitable replacements for Morris from committing to Virginia) hurt Tony Elliott and Virginia’s ability to retool through the portal properly (which given the short portal window and the season we had was incredibly crucial) and-

This is the only reason I’d be okay with a 25/26 year old qb coming back, since Elliott didn’t have a fair chance to retool the team as every other college (even Ole Miss heard back on Chambliss’s eligibility before Virginia on Morris). Neither of those guys are as good as who we were trying to target (DJ Lagway for one). Morris’s eligibility still being uncertain ultimately turned him away from us. Even if we got the second coming of Tim Tebow, it’s still unfair for teams that the NCAA can sit on an issue and actively deter players from their team.
