The solutions isn’t to continue to expand the playoff so our favorite “brands” can get in. The solution is to either call a spade a spade and make two playoffs for P4/G5, antitrust tf out of P4 for parity, or stfu entirely

Our sport is the least progressive out of most American sports. The NFL doesn’t deal with this as bad. College basketball doesn’t deal with this as bad (they handle mid-majors beautifully imo). We need to bite the bullet and make a sweeping change but no one wants to or will commit to it without complaining

They need to go back to the BCS format or adopt the FCS format

Problem with BCS is the UCF situation from 2017. Imagine if A&M didn’t lose to Texas…who goes to the championship game? FCS could work if we accept the fact that a 3-loss team could win it all, say Texas locks in and dominates the playoff. I’d be okay with that, lots of diehard wouldn’t

I think the best case scenario is adopting the FCS playoff format and starting the season a couple weeks earlier. More teams get in so you have less crybabies like ND and the entire season would be over before the spring semester allowing rules to be put in place where coaches/players can’t be recruited elsewhere until the season is concluded.

Lemme rephrase my example cause I forgot about conference champs…say A&M and Texas Tech remain undefeated and win out. Between Indy, A&M, and TT, who gets in?

The diehards would just have to get over it, it’s natural for people to not like change but that doesn’t mean change shouldn’t occur.

Probably Indy

Then that 3rd 0 loss team…they can just claim national champ and we have the BCS mess of multiple champs all over again

Logistically, it’d be a nightmare to start a few weeks earlier cause games would likely be before the start of the academic year. Would cause more chaos for university admins than many people realize. If it can be pulled off, then this is gold

I’m sure it wouldn’t be easy but once it’s done it’s done and it’d make the most sense along with clearing up all of the drama and mess we have with the current structure. I think more people would vote in favor of having this done as these are still students at the end of the day and it wouldn’t put players/coaches in a hard place close to the playoffs.

Agreed. For the students benefit.
