Please don’t crucify me, just trying to learn. Why did Texas fall 7 spots after losing by one score to a top 3 team (OSU), and only rise 3 spots after winning by double digits to another top 3 team (a&m)?

They had nothing to compare the OSU game to (no other games), so why would they take into account all the previous games to decide how far UT rises for the win? I hope I’m making sense lol

Comparing AP poll in week 1 (week where 95% of the top 25 wins) to CFP poll in week 14

Explain the week one stuff. Why was that loss so detrimental?

I’m not saying it was I’m just explaining the rankings situation, and it more so had to do with arch struggling to complete a slant route until the 4th quarter when Ohio state played prevent

And also those rankings have nothing to do with the cfp rankings

Oh ok ok, so it’s not as simple as win or lose, but also performance during the game?

Which is why Texas only dropped to 6 I believe, the AP is always gonna drop teams though especially week 1 no matter who they lose to or how much

I hear you fs, but I’m talking about the OSU and a&m games specifically. Or are you saying a&m is cupcakes?

No it more so has to do with who was behind them who won, the AP poll is notorious for dropping teams a ridiculous amount for losing games, and too many teams in front of Texas won their games this week unfortunately for them. If this was last year Texas probably would’ve gotten it it’s just an extremely competitive game

I agree with you I’m just saying the AP poll is a joke and most of the people on it don’t know anything about CFB and they drop teams a ton for no reason all the time

Yeah but last year there was like 4-5 contenders then outside a bunch of teams that didn’t have any shot of winning it. This year it’s probably 8 or so teams that have a shot but they have to give 4 charity spots essentially so teams like Texas are getting left out

I think OSU is overrated honestly, only real team they’ve played is Texas and beat them by 7 at home, Michigan was always a fraud got blown out by all 3 ranked teams they played even made USC look like they weren’t soft
