Boise State was a top 10 team even before the auto-bid. Actually, it was Clemson who benefited from the auto-bid since they were around 15-16 before winning the ACC

Id argue they were similar to Tulane 25 and might’ve had an inflated ranking. You do gotta point with Clemson

I’d agree - I’m guessing that’s why were reluctant with G5 rankings this season. They had no issue throwing Boise State into the top 15-10 leading up to Selection Sunday

Boise State did play a very close game with #1 Oregon early on, so that might’ve factored into it. Oregon won on a walk off field goal.

Which is why G5 should be included. Plenty of examples where they can hang in a one score game. Upset? Unlikely. But we’re banking on that low chance of a Cinderella rather than a bunch of boring chalk games. Would we reeaaalllyy be satisfied if it was just the top 12 ranked teams? also Tulane beat Duke…the best G5 teams are arguable mid-tier P4 teams with lower budgets

To add to Boise State last year, if they kept with that inflated ranking style for this year, UNT would’ve been easily top 10 based on having the best offense stats in college ball. And as much as I love my mean green, they’re not top 10 lmao
