A commentator on ESPN was saying that the reason for the back and forth with Ohio State in the last decade or so especially… Ohio State has gotten to a point where they SHOULD be more dominant than they already are. It’s the big games they can’t close on. Fans are expecting perfection because of the caliber of the players and coaching staff. When you play at the most elite level, one loss can seem absolutely devastating. It’s being spoiled as a fan expecting to have a perfect record.
Basically what I got out of everything I heard (I was paraphrasing) was that it’s expecting a perfect season with a national championship and anything less than that is considered a failure. I think what really caused a lot of people to react this year was their OC was standing on the sideline. The guy who got them there. He was THERE. Ryan Day made the call to take over offensive play calling for whatever reason. And the offense looked terrible. I personally think that was a mistake.
