One thing I feel like able bodied people just don’t ever understand is the disappointment at getting back negative results/results that show nothing. Because to them, that’s a good thing, it means there’s nothing wrong. But (1/2)

But to chronically ill/pained people, it’s means we’ve wasted time pursuing a route that gave no results and we’re back to square one. We know there’s something going on with our bodies and getting negative results just feels so disheartening because we have to start over again and the more paths you try, the harder it gets because then people start doubting you and if there is anything going on and eventually we may even doubt ourselves and then the thoughts of imposter syndrome sink in

YESS and then after the first few negative results, it becomes harder to convince doctors to run more tests because then they start defaulting to anxiety as the reason

My grandma got so upset with me when I was trying to explain this to her, that her relief at me not having rheumatoid arthritis was not comforting and that a negative result in this context is not entirely a good thing

Yes! Also this, everyone starts doubting that any of its even real
