Does anyone else take metoprolol? I’m starting it today and curious to know what I’m in for

It’s absolutely saved my life. I love it. When I first started I got some palpitations outside my norm, but they weren’t major and subsided within a few months. For the record I’m on a 24 hour extended release dose and I have a fast acting one I usually take for when I’m exercising or for emergency heart rate spikes. Resting rate went from 100-120 to 68-80

Yes I take extended release! Helped get my heart rate under control and regulates my blood pressure super well. Haven’t experienced any bad side effects from it either.

I stopped because it caused nausea and severe appetite loss. Then again propranolol did the same thing for me the first time I tried it and it’s fine now that I’m on it a few years later.

It's been a godsend! I haven't had any side effect issues, the only issue I've really had with it is that for me it seems to wear off an hour or two before it should so I'm messing with timing but otherwise it's been so helpful!

(And I can actually walk without hitting 200!)

Glad to hear that! I’m going to be taking the fast acting one. I’d love to be able to exercise without going into the 190s 😍

Oh I will add it messed up my blood pressure SLIGHTLY, however it was managed perfectly fine with the fludrocortisone I was already taking. My doc had me monitor it for a few weeks just in case

Can I ask how it affected it? I’m going on it because my blood pressure has been getting a lil dangerously high

Oh it lowers it. So you’re good. I was already struggling with low blood volume and anemia caused by it (iron levels great! Blood to use the iron…not so much lmao).
