I have a chronic illness and now work in student accommodations. A student with a chronic illness came in and we talked for an hour and at the end they told me they thought this process would be scary but it wasn’t. 😭 I have healed my inner child

That’s awesome!! Reminds me of when I got my current job and felt really nervous trying to explain to my boss my hours would have to be flexible because of flare ups. Turned out he had fibromyalgia!! He was so supportive!!!

This!! I opened up to my boss about flareups and possibly needed more time to sit during 50-60 hours work weeks. She was like omg I wish you had come to me sooner I have a heart condition and I have to do the same thing. It took so much pressure off of trying to out perform other people. Now I get a really healthy mix of being able to walk around and sit instead of just standing or walking all day.

My boss is also disabled too so every time I’m trying to push too hard he nips that really quick. If I’m ever getting emotional about encounters like this too, he’s really supportive and says he knows how much it means to me and that the student responded positively because I’m great at my job. 10000/10 boss and workplace environment
