is it crazy of me to be advocating for my friend to stay home, even masked, with covid until they test negative?

Isolation: If you test positive, stay home for at least 5 days (or as advised by your local health department) and away from others. Source: CDC. So after 5 days they’re good to go if masked

for some people covid is just a cold, but to other people it could literally take their life. and a lot of people got over covid, but developed other lifelong chronic medical conditions from having covid

people who continue to test negative after 5 days should still isolate as much as possible to protect both themselves and others. “isolate until you test negative” has been the rule of thumb this whole time

you’re being totally sensible about it, but unfortunately that’s an alienating position to be in. cause at this point most people have either internalized a ton of misinformation re: the actual threat level posed by covid or are just, like, willfully ignorant / apathetic
