So I got diagnosed with Crohn’s a few weeks ago. Can someone tell me what is actually is and what it does? I’ve asked like 4 doctors and none of them gave me a straight answer

It’s an inflammatory bowel disease that can impact your entire digestive tract from mouth to anus. The immune system basically overreacts and attacks your digestive tract instead, it can cause mouth sores, bloody stool, diarrhea, intestinal pain, weight loss, and other complications. Nutrition can become complicated because some foods will trigger symptoms and an inflamed digestive tract + increased transit time because of the diarrhea makes it harder to absorb nutrients.

You’re immune system has decided to start attacking your bowels 💔so what #1 said. It can cause constipation or diarrhea or both and just stomach pain in general, along with other autoimmune shit like mine comes with arthritis

I’ve been diagnosed with it since I was 4, but I’m currently as close to cured as possible. If you have specific questions please feel free to ask here or in dms

How do you get to close to cured? Is it chronic treatment or remission without currently being treated?

I had my colon removed and have only had minor symptoms since, I’m not currently in need of any medication so technically I’m in remission but it’s the longest one of my life and it *feels* like a cure.

Most treatments via medication are biologics that suppress the immune response. I was on an infusion for awhile, my brother it seems has tried everything and has never been in remission in like 20 years of being diagnosed though but he also isn’t a good candidate for colostomy so :/
