I feel like I don’t deserve to be in chronic illness communities now that my conditions are fairly well managed

personally I think it’s a chill and positive thing if you stay in chronically ill community! like I honestly really respect it when people confidently embrace disability and/or chronic illness as part of their identity even once their health is a bit better managed. spirit of solidarity and whatnot! it’s still part of your experience, & other chronically ill people are no less eager to meet you 🫶

This just means you have the energy to go out and help advocate for our rights the way others do not. You’ve been upgraded to disability elder lol

Gatekeeping the concept of chronic illness is a sign of a mental illness in of itself. You’re allowed to talk to people with chronic illnesses despite what some internet keyboard warrior might say. In fact, you are allowed to even have opinions on the matter. I’m so sick of the “if you don’t have it then you don’t get an opinion” culture.
