Like I just got off the phone with my mom about going to tell my doctor about stuff that’s been happening. She said I needed more magnesium in which I told her I already got that tested and I’m fine. She said she didn’t believe me because doctors NEVER test for it and it must be my magnesium and creatinine levels. I was staring at the test results for my magnesium and creatine when she told me that.
I tend to try it, it doesn’t work, so I stop and then my mom nags me about it whenever I say I’m struggling with my symptoms. She continuously tells me she doesn’t think it alone will fix it, but an important part. I’ve come to accept that it’s the one piece she feels she can control. A mineral imbalance is easier to accept than incurable illness.
My mom loves to suggest supplements to me without bloodwork to back up a need but she also knows full well that she has pernicious anemia and instead of just taking her own B-12 supplements, she convinces herself she has MS every few months when neurological symptoms from B-12 deficiency pop back up
