Are muscle relaxers actually worth it and how do you rate your experience with them? I was put on gabapentin up to 900mg per day but it doesn’t really seem to do anything pain-wise and I’m quite honestly afraid to ask my rheum for other options 🫠

Depends what your pain is from. I have hEDS so it’s a fine line between calming muscle spasms and making things TOO loose and increasing subluxations. They can be really helpful for me but it took a bit to figure out when and how much. They do also make me a little loopy especially if I take a higher dose. And if I take them too frequently they affect motility.

sure when the gabapentin actually does anything at all will make me loopy and floppy enough to not care much about the pain, but it’s only good before bed. otherwise I’m too loopy to think properly during the day 🫩. Not to mention the appetite increases drive me mad

I think it’s definitely worth having on hand as another option since they don’t have major side effects and it’s not something you have to take consistently.

Kind of like #1 said. Depends. I spent a couple years on them. First, I had it twice daily - two different ones. Then dropped down to one. I never saw much improvement, but was the best idea at the time. Turns out, it wasn’t doing anything. Possibly worsening things due to me having EDS.
