
They might be trying to scare you into think this isn’t a reasonable accommodation. All jobs have to accommodate within reason they might be trying to spin it where it is an “unreasonable accommodation”, which is something that could cost a lot of money, or could stop the business from functioning. Next time, do not ask. State that you need accommodations and they are legally obligated to provide according to Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act
Oh it is. 100%. Now, each place is difffetent. Sometimes I’ve had it where they were super easy accommodations where I didn’t have to go through the formal process (HR and everything) and a quick chat with my supervisor and all was good. Other times, it was HR, needed documentation from healthcare provider, etc. But that shouldn’t require more than a private chat.
