My bf asked me this, and now I’m cornering it more… how many of you mask up? I have lots of autoimmune conditions and everytime I get sick it takes weeks to recover, should I just mask up all the time now? He offered to also mask up to keep me safe

I never stopped 💕 Helps keep my allergies low, the air I inhale from being so dry it triggers my asthme, and of course keeps me from getting germs. Getting sick less often prevents a lot of flares too c: You can check maskbloc.org for help affording masks and a bunch have good info

i mask to help prevent getting sick/getting others sick, to keep my allergies down, and to hide my RBF. it's always worth it to mask

I think it helps! As long as I mask it seems like I’m way less likely to get sick/get stuff less often. I think n95 ones are supposed to be more effective too (I usually don’t wear them just simpler ones though)

I never stopped either. My dad and I mask everywhere and it helps a lot, and I personally think covid is enough of a threat that masking is worth it even if I didn’t have immune issues

Also have a messed up immune system; I mask quite frequently. Definitely when I know stuff is going around, or if I’m around a lot of people indoors. People don’t seem to really comment on it, if you’re worried about that

I usually mask if I know people around me are sick or in the winter because cold and flu. I don’t tend to do it if it is warmer outside mostly because I have POTS and also I am more likely to be outside. With the hantavirus stuff I feel like I probably am going to continue to mask as much as i can during the summer too

I have a bad immune system too but I usually only mask up when I’m sick. It typically prevents the spread if you’re the sick one better than preventing you from contracting it. It is such a bonus of my major that that the people I have class with also mask when they are sick

I’ve learned to not rly care what people think haha, I’m more so just wondering if it will actually help me! Although I suppose it goes back to the covid principle which means it couldn’t hurt me

*it also doesn’t hurt to mask anyways, too

that only applies to masks that aren't fitted/sealed well

It’s a bit more complicated than that, it depends on the type of mask, what you’re trying to prevent against, and the distance of you and the person who is sick. But generally it’s better used that way
