when you consider the context in which we most often see the word “chronically” used, it’s kinda interesting how frequently “chronically online” is the go-to dismissal towards people who are outspoken with their critiques of ableist rhetoric

not pushing any big galaxy-brain conclusions with this observation I just noticed in ~2023, when I was pretty militantly incensed over the social murder of it all and frequently trying to educate strangers online, people kept taunting me with that phrase While I was explaining that public existence (and thus grass-touching) is being made disproportionately life-threatening for me

the phrase existed prior to that, but like I said, it became popular some time around 2023
